St. Louis based, Koch Development, engaged the L. Keeley Civil Group to manage the planning, design, and build process for the 200 ft. tall SkyWheel attraction and one-acre entertainment complex in Panama City Beach, Florida. The services the LKC team provided to our customer included working with the design team during the concept phase, providing ongoing pricing strategies to develop and meet a budget, selecting local contractors to perform the work, and managing the construction process to completion. 

 

Challenges that we encountered and overcame included soil conditions related to the foundation structure of the wheel, coordination with a global, multi-party design team, collaboration with qualified contractors in the locale that were suited to perform the precise work required to install an intricate structural foundation support system, and coordination with local governing authorities to ensure all building codes were met and exceeded.

 

Our LKC Civil team overcame these challenges and established a pattern of success and commitment for our SkyWheel project customer that has resulted in a long-term partnership to provide our services for an additional 10+ SkyWheel projects across the nation.
